Artist Statement
In my work I continue to explore and dive deep into the exploration of found forms and unusual marks left behind in cities. Specific configurations that catch my eye around the city on the daily.
Forms like spilt objects, decomposing trash, mould, eroded graffiti and an array of other ‘Gross’ looking substances. My work is aimed towards bringing these overlooked structures more attention. Upon viewing, I've noticed they have now become living structures in this existence alone. I am creating a conversation between the beautiful and grotesque. A recent interest in the makeup of the found matters, I put them under the microscope that brings a whole new layer of abstract finds. I am testing the process of etching to translate a delicate and gestural image from a once violent and harsh lined structure.
Using the microscope images and viewfinders to explore a more abstract approach of translating new images to my work.
